The number of victims of coronavirus in the world has exceeded four million people

TASS has determined the total number of coronavirus victims in the world since the beginning of the pandemic. The calculations were based on the official statements of the leaders of the states, the conclusions of experts and information in the media.

According to the agency, more than four million people have died worldwide due to COVID-19. At the same time, the number of people infected with the virus exceeded 184 million. The first fatal outcome as a result of complications of the coronavirus became known on January 11, 2020. At the end of September of the same year, a million deaths were registered, and in January 2021-two million. The world overcame the mark of three million victims in April 2021.

In the first place in terms of mortality due to COVID-19 are the United States, where 605.6 thousand deaths were registered. The second place is taken by Brazil with 525 thousand dead. At the moment, India remains in third place, where 403 thousand out of 30 million infected people died.

According to the federal operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus, 139,316 people have become victims of the pandemic in Russia. At the same time, the total number of infected people in the country is approaching six million.

On July 5, the World Health Organization announced that the situation with the coronavirus has stabilized “at a very high level” over the past two weeks. It is noted that now the situation with the spread of COVID-19 in the world is better than two or three months ago. The WHO noted that in some countries there is a sharp decrease in the incidence of infection, but at the same time, opposite trends are registered in other states.
